The inspiration for this piece is the ancient Chaco Canyon ruins in New Mexico. When I visited a few years ago there was a surreal beauty and also a distinct sense of deep spiritual mystery around the people and land there.

Coyotes are friends of mystery, shadows, and elusive places. To me they have always been associated with the beauty of the desert southwest.
